My name is Debbie Liebl. I became deaf from spinal Meningitis when I was four years old from a birthday party of 20. All 20 party kids contacted Meningitis. Only 5 of us survived and I was one of the survivors.
I applied to NEADS for a Service Dog to help me in everyday activities. This highly trained dog can assist me with hearing door knockings, people pulling in the driveway, Ambulance/Police/Fire Sirens, waking me up to a fire/smoke/carbon monoxide alarm, and many sounds I am not able to hear. They keep me safe and sound. This dog will accompany me to work, home and anywhere I go 24/7.
NEADS dogs take up to 2 years to train before I get one. NEADS will find a dog that is a good match to my needs and when they do, I will spend a week and 2 days at the NEADS center for training with my dog.
The cost of this specialized training is over $26,000. As a client, I have been asked to reach a minimum fundraising goal of $8,000 which will go toward training a highly skilled NEADS dog. My personal goal is to continue fundraising as much as I can which will help NEADS to provide more dogs to people like me. Would you consider making a tax-deductible donation to NEADS in my name to help sponsor my new Service Dog? Gifts of any size will highly be appreciated.
When I return home with my service dog, I would be happy to meet with you and speak to you. All sponsors will be invited to attend our graduation a very unique heartwarming event.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
