Our son, Giovanni was diagnosed with high functioning autism at age 3 and he will be 10 years old this summer. We are asking for your help.
Individuals on the autism spectrum present a variety of symptoms that can make it hard for them to communicate and form relationships. For Giovanni, it is a daily struggle that affects our whole family including our 5 year-old daughter. In addition to being on the autism spectrum, he also deals with anxiety, OCD, irritability, ADHD, Receptive Language Disorder, Auditory Processing Disorder and struggles emotionally to connect with people, regulating his emotions and forming friendships.
Our family would like a NEADS Service Dog to provide therapeutic relief from our daily struggle. Our son is waiting to experience the comfort and support that a service dog could provide during the toughest moments of his life. A Service Dog will help calm him down when he becomes nervous or anxious. He has difficulty articulating his thoughts and feelings.
Service Dogs are trained to perform specific behaviors and tasks for children with autism. This dog can act as constant companion for our son to help improve social interactions and relationships, expand verbal and nonverbal communication, reduces his anxiety and depression, teach him life skills, increase his interest in activities, build his confidence, manage sensory overload and decrease stress within our family.
Giovanni is a handsome, fun loving, young boy full of adventure who is shy with a lot of anxiety who struggles to manage his symptoms but he tries very hard. Please help our son by making a tax deductible charitable donation to NEADS on behalf of our son’s future dog. There are no administrative costs so 100% of your donation goes toward our goal. We appreciate any donation you can provide.
