My name is Joe Hurley. In May of 2012 I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves. Before that, I was actively competing in Mixed Martial Arts and held a full time job.
Throughout my life I have had dogs and I know a service dog will be incredibly helpful in my day to day activities as well as offer me companionship. A NEADS dog in the home will help me to sleep with ease and help me feel more calm. I believe they will also strenghten my ability to function and increase my quality of life.
I am raising money to help NEADS cover the cost of my service dog. Each dog cost over $25,000 and I have a fundraising goal of $9,500. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.
