Hi, my name is Paxton Moynihan. I'm 26 years old and an art student at Tunxis Community College. I'm a huge hockey fan and I play sled hockey for the Connecticut Wolfpack. I love photography, drawing, horror movies, World of Warcraft, video games and playing music. I play ukulele in a band, and take bass guitar lessons.

I have a spinal cord disorder called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP), a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, an autoimmune disease called Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease, that does not effect my mobility, but has an effect on my health, and Aspergers Syndrome, which is on the autism spectrum.

The HSP causes me to have trouble walking and poor balance due to the muscles in my legs having spasms. I wear leg braces on my lower legs to help me with this. Elhers Danlos Syndrome is a connective tissue disorder where your body does not produce the correct amount of collagen. As a result, it effects your entire body. It effects people in different ways, and the type I have effects my joints (dislocations, premature osteoarthritis joint pain and weakness), muscles (low muscle tone in my trunk, muscle spasms), skin (skin that doesn't heal well, scars very badly, and stretches more than it should), spinal cord (spina bifida occulta) and eyes (I wear bifocals and have an astigmatism). I'm currently unable to drive because of this but I hope that will change. I use a manual wheelchair when I'm at school to help me get around better.

A service dog would help me retrieve things I've dropped and carry small things in his or her backpack to help free up my hands, as well as provide a constant companion for times when I'm sick and unable to go to school or in the hospital, and help with the social anxiety I experience due to having Aspergers.

Please consider donating to help me get my service dog so that I can be more independent and confident at school, and in life in general =]

Update from Paxton since being matched with Weezie: Since coming home with Weezie, she has quickly become my best friend and a huge help to me. We have been to see Coldplay and have been to an anime convention as well as lots of trips to the mall and around town and some other music shows. She also saw her first Broadway show, American Idiot! She has a wonderful goofy personality that makes everyone smile, and she helps me be able to talk to people when I am out with her. She goes to Spanish class with me, so I taught her a few commands in Spanish! She's very good at "habla", "obtener el teléfono", "vamos" and "sentarse"!

A friend of mine has been raising dogs his whole life and said he's never seen a dog so devoted to their person as Weezie is. It's true! Just the way she looks at me makes me feel very loved!
