Imagine a place where you know your neighbor- not just their name, but their parents’ names. Where your child’s teacher comes over for dinner. A present day Mayberry. This is the town of Rossville, Indiana. In a city that is mostly comprised of agricultural industry, the love of animals is something that seems to be innate in our citizens. We still have “Drive your tractor to school” day and the yearly tradition of breakfast with Santa in the barn- complete with a petting zoo. This is the way of life in Rossville. Community, service to others, and family are tenants that drive every decision.
We have the opportunity to extend these values all the way to our classrooms. Our hope is to welcome a therapy dog into Rossville Consolidated School District. Of course we know our community’s love of animals, but here is an opportunity to utilize a dog in a unique way and deepen our commitment to our children’s well-being. With the addition of a service dog, we will support our students’ emotional growth, create an environment where students feel unconditional love, and bolster the family atmosphere at Rossville schools.
The cost of welcoming our new “Hornet” is too great for us to bear alone. We need your help. Your contribution will allow our commitment to children to ripple out; not in Rossville alone, but across our county and state. We appreciate your support of our service dog. But more importantly, we appreciate your support of kids and the shared belief that they need all the love they can get. Thank you for turning a child’s bad day into a great one. Help us make every day amazing for our kids!
