Grace Can Use a Helping Hand (or Paw) |

Here are recent photos of Grace, who has, through the generosity of many contributors and supporters, undergone 2 significant operations (TPO) to repair both of her hips. Grace continues to recover beautifully and is strong and eager to learn new tasks with her full-time puppy raiser. We anticipate that Grace will eventually be placed in a classroom setting as, according to her Veterinarian, 'Grace only wants to please." Grace has one more surgery on the 25th of October to remove a bone chip in her shoulder. We want to thank everyone who has generously supported Grace through her surgeries and convalescence. Without your compassion, Grace would not be where she is today! We will keep you updated on her progress. :::: Grace is a 9 month old Golden Retriever diagnosed with multiple health issues, bilateral hip dysplasia, fragmented coronoid and urinary issues. While she is still young and her bones are still growing she needs immediate triple pelvic osteotomy (TPO) surgery to preserve the natural hip joint, eliminate dislocation and prevent the progression of arthritis. This procedure involves cutting the pelvis in three places and rotating the socket to provide better coverage of the femoral head or ball portion of the hip joint. The result is a stable, pain free joint. She will need the TPO surgery on both hips and then the dysplasia in her elbow will be corrected with surgery. These procedures performed by an orthopedic specialist are very expensive and recovery is lengthy. The estimate for all 3 surgeries combined is nearly $8,000. We have been given almost $3,000 in donated medical services and additional donations of almost $2,000. Her first surgery is June 15th! If you can find it in your heart to make a donation to her future, please contact us. Donate by phone 978-422-9064 ext 14. |
