Chris Heinel Golf Tournament – Supporting NEADS for 22 Years

May 23, 2018

Cheers to another successful Chris Heinel Golf Tournament!  For the past 22 years, our friends and supporters in Downington, Pennsylvania have organized a fun-filled, sports star-studded, day of golf at the lovely Downingtown Country Club…all to benefit NEADS.

The idea for the tournament was born when Chris Heinel was matched with a NEADS Service Dog, and his family saw first-hand the increased quality of life that the dog helped to provide.  Since that day, the Heinel family and many others have pulled together each year to support NEADS.  All proceeds from the Chris Heinel Golf Tournament go directly toward client fundraising, and many clients have reached their fundraising goals thanks to this great event.

This year, the golfers were joined by Merrill Reese – Voice of the Philadelphia Eagles – and Tommy Greene of the Phillies.  Also in attendance were two very special guests: Chris Slavin and Earle the Service Dog from NEADS.  Chris talked about her life with a Service Dog and gave a short demonstration of the many ways Earle helps her every day.

NEADS would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone involved in this event.  Here’s to the next 22 years!

A message from John Thompson:

Dear Players and Supporters,

Thank you very much for your support of NEADS. For those of you who played and/or came to the dinner, I hope you had a fun day. For those who could not make it but made donations, thank you again for your generosity and we hope to see you next year.

A special thanks to Merrill Reese and Tommy Greene for sharing their thoughts and experiences on the Eagles and Phillies, to Amanda Charbonneau from NEADS and her husband Nick for coming all the way down from Massachusetts, to Chris Slavin for sharing her special NEADS story and to Downingtown Country Club for their top notch hospitality.

In regards to the golf, congratulations to the winners; First Place Low Gross; Tommy Greene and Merrill Reese, Second Place; Steve Connors and Mark Niness, First Place Low Net; Frank Staudenmeier and Scott Staudenmeier, Second Place; Joe Lawn and Tom Bullock. Closest to the pin went to Rick Volvo and Longest Drive to Bob Marcino.

Thanks again for your support. The folks at NEADS and the recipients of the Service Dogs sincerely appreciate it. We look forward to doing it again next year.
