Program: Hearing Dog
Minimum Goal: $8,000 | Amount Raised:$6,476
Hi my name is Jessica Sinclair and I am a third year student at Rochester Institute of Technology, studying Journalism. I am trying to raise funds for a Hearing Dog to help me to live independently. I am currently working at Walmart Store, part-time while attending school, in hopes of earning funds towards my goal of acquiring a Hearing dog.
The costs of acquiring a Hearing Dog, is more than my family and I can afford. Therefore I am asking for any donations or help that your company/ association can contribute. A hearing dog would greatly help me live an independently and successful life.
I have severe bilateral hearing loss that runs in the family in which I was born with. I use two hearing aids, lip read, and use American Sign Language. Without the hearing aids, I am deaf.
A hearing dog would be trained to alert me to fire alarms, timers, door bells/knocking, people approaching me, people calling my name, and alarm clock going off, emergency vehicles, and other everyday sounds that I cannot hear. I truly want to become more independent and able to succeed as a journalist to help make the world a better informed place for everyone.
The true cost of all this specialized training is over $42,000. I have been asked to raise $8,000 of the full amount. Would you consider making a tax-deductible donation to NEADS in my name to help sponsor my new Service Dog? All of your donations will go directly toward the care and training of my dog. In these financial times, I know money is tight. Gifts of all sizes will be greatly appreciated.
On our donation form, pick the name of the client you want to sponsor under the Program Menu and check whether or not we can share your contact information with the client. Client fundraising totals are manually updated weekly (not automatically) which allows 100% of each donation to be allocated towards each client’s fundraising goal.
