From: Oxford, MA
Program: Service Dog
Minimum Goal: $8,000 | Amount Raised:$3,341

My name is Kathleen Smith and I live in Oxford, MA  I have been an amputee since I was 11 years old from bone cancer. I always walked with an artificial limb and I was always very active I even climbed trees in my younger years.

About 18 years ago I had a serious fall with my artificial leg  and because my amputation is to my hip another leg couldn’t be made for me.  So I have been in my wheelchair all the time..

Almost 10 years ago I was matched with the wonderful service dog Lucy.  She made my life whole again and we went everywhere together.  We even flew to MS and LA where my in-laws live.  She passed away February 26 2018

My life has not been the same since her passing, I’m not able to do the every day things. I knew she did things for me but never realized everything she did. Now I am on the waiting list at NEADS for a new partner.

I am raising funds for NEADS in order to support their mission to continue to place Service Dogs with people like me.  My goal is $8,000.

Thank You for visiting and reading my page
