Program: Facilitated Service Dog
Minimum Goal: $8,000 | Amount Raised:$867
Hi everyone! My name is Lani Baker and I am a 16 year old from Vermont. When I was 18 months old I was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 3 and have been in a wheelchair most of my life. Although I have walked, over the years my muscles have progressively gotten weaker and that has resulted in me using a power wheelchair all the time. Since I used to walk I have had the experience of being much more independent. Now I’m much less independent and need to rely on others frequently to help with everyday tasks. Having a NEADS Service Dog will help me be more independent in many different ways.
I am very excited to have been accepted into the NEADS program and also very excited to soon have a companion to help me with my independence and everyday life. Raising and training a service dog is a very expensive process. The average cost for raising and placing NEADS dogs are around $45,000. My goal is to raise at least $8,000 so that I can help support NEADS and all the good work they are doing. Please make a donation toward my goal so that they can continue to help people like me.
*NEADS clients pledge to raise a minimum of $8,000 for the organization, thus allowing us to fulfill our mission of placing Service Dogs with individuals who benefit from them the most. Each donation ensures that NEADS will continue to change lives with our World Class Service Dogs.
On our donation form, pick the name of the client you want to sponsor under the Program Menu and check whether or not we can share your contact information with the client. Client fundraising totals are manually updated weekly (not automatically) which allows 100% of each donation to be allocated towards each client’s fundraising goal.
