Meet the Staff: Julie Vautour

April 9, 2018

Get to know the NEADS staff in this occasional series. Today, please meet Julie Vatour, Campus/Office Manager.

When did you start working at NEADS?
I started working at NEADS on March 28th, 2018. Happy Anniversary to me! It has been a life changing experience since I started.

What brought you to NEADS?
I was unemployed at the time and I saw the posting on-line. I was determined to get the job. It was different from other jobs that I’ve had. There was a purpose other than making money. I have a young son and the hours were perfect. It is also a short commute which I love. I am not a fan of traffic or big cities.

What do you do at NEADS?
I am the Campus/Office Manager. What do I do? I do many things ranging from answering the phone, making sure all 4 buildings are in good shape, the cars are running, fixing computers, and basically making sure the staff has everything they need to accomplish their jobs. A jack of all trades I guess is the best way to describe what I do.

What did you do before you came to NEADS?
I have been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and currently am the Group Fitness Manager for a local club as well an instructor. I traveled with Disney On Ice for 5 years as a Tour Coordinator and have been to 20 countries and 35 states. I worked for 10 years as a Fitness Consultant. And prior to NEADS, to help out a friend, I worked at Repossession Company.

What do you love about working at NEADS?
I love the puppies and the dogs. That being said, I love knowing that we are changing the lives of individuals that otherwise would have little or no independence. Getting to meet and know the clients is very fulfilling and in the short time they are here I get to see their lives being transformed. I get goosebumps every day and cry at least twice a month, for all positive reasons.

Do you have any pets?
I have 4 cats and 2 dogs, one of which comes to work with me almost every day. Sampson is a 7 lb. Maltese/Shih Tzu mix who loves running with the big dogs.

Share a funny story or weird fact
During my time with Disney On Ice, Beauty and The Beast production, I was a table during one of the shows. We had a few people out sick so they slid a milk crate under me and pushed me on the ice.

Now you know a little bit more about Julie and what she does here at NEADS. Feel free to reach out and say hello anytime! And stay tuned to learn about another staff member in the next post…
