Hi there, and thanks for visiting my page!   I am the mom of three children between the ages of 5 and 11 (two of whom also have hearing loss). I was diagnosed with hearing loss when I began school at age 5.  Due to the poor, old fashioned technology that was available at that time, I was unable to successfully wear hearing aids.  As a result, I learned to read lips and depend on reading body language and other social cues in order to understand the world around me.  I believe these coping mechanisms allowed me to develop into my current chosen profession as a social worker, since I learned that there are many ways to connect and understand people besides just listening to them speak.

My friends and family will tease me good naturedly about my hearing difficulties, but now that I am a mom, not being able to hear all of the time is not all fun and games.  Being able to hear when they need me or may be in trouble is critical, and I am looking forward to having a partner in crime to help!

*NEADS clients pledge to raise a minimum of $8,000 for the organization, thus allowing us to fulfill our mission of placing Service Dogs with individuals who benefit from them the most.  Each donation ensures that NEADS will continue to change lives with our World Class Service Dogs.
