Program: Service Dog
Minimum Goal: $8,000 | Amount Raised:$7,458
My name is Stephanie Zaia. I am 28 years old and live in Medfield MA. I have a rare neurological condition called Dystonia. It causes my muscles to contract forcing my body to twist into painful positions. I started exhibiting symptoms at the age of 14 and since then my physical abilities have declined steadily.
In April of 2008 I met my best friend, my dog Izzy who was just 6 weeks old. We took her home and she was trained to be my service dog. Izzy has been by my side for the last nine and a half years enabling me to be more independent. She graduated college with me, went to my first day of work with me, and moved into my first apartment with me. She has been there helping me open doors, pick up numerous dropped items (mostly my phone), turning on and off lights, and most importantly being my constant companion.
I love her more than anything, but after all these years of hard work, she deserves a break. It is time for her to retire.
I decided to apply for NEADS for my second service dog because many of my friends have received their service dogs through NEADS. I have been very impressed with how well they have been matched with their dogs and how well trained their dogs are.
It costs NEADS over $42,000 to raise and train each dog, I am being asked to fundraise $8,000 to help with this cost. Please consider making a donation to help me reach this goal. Any amount is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your help!
