Unfortunately, we are unable to begin the application process for you at this time. Our facilitated Service Dog program is designed for children 12 years or older. The recipient of a Facilitated Service Dog, with limited parental support, must be responsible for the feeding, exercise, and general care of the dog. The recipient must also portray clear leadership to the dog. By carrying out the responsibilities for the care of the dog and conveying clear leadership, the dog and the child will form the extremely close bond that is needed for an effective working relationship. We are unable to begin the application process. This is not a Service Dog covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act therefore you must get permission from your employer. Please note: When you do have permission from your employer, please reapply. If you are a self-employed therapist then you do not need permission and you can re-answer this question with “YES.”

At the end of the client training process, the client has complete financial responsibility for the lifetime feeding, care, and veterinary needs of the dog.
Are you willing to fundraise a minimum of $8,000 for NEADS? It costs over $45,000 to acquire, train and match each of our unique and highly trained dogs. We ask our client to fundraise a minimum of $8,000, but please don't let this deter you from applying. NEADS will assist you by providing fundraising information and guidance.
The full cost of training and placing a highly trained NEADS Dog is over $45,000. We ask our clients to support NEADS by raising or contributing a minimum goal of $8,000. We believe it is important for our clients to have a vested interest in the organization and it is this “pay it forward” philosophy that helps us to continue to provide dogs to future clients.
We will provide you with fundraising ideas and support every step of the way. NEADS understands that some of our clients have circumstances that may make fundraising very difficult. Remember that this is a team effort and you are never alone in the process. We ask that you do everything you can to work with us to meet your fundraising goal. There are many resources available that you may not be aware of and they will be discussed in your fundraising interview. Our main goal at NEADS is to provide Service Dogs to those who need them and we have never denied anyone who did their best to meet their fundraising goals.
