Meet the Raiser – Kate Foley
Name: Kate Foley
Occupation: Product Manager at Collette
Prison: JJ Moran
Current Pup: Raffle – 9 months
How long have you been a Weekend Puppy Raiser and how many dogs have you raised? (Include furloughed dogs and the one you are currently raising).
I have been a puppy raiser for 4 years, and Raffle is my 5th puppy
What led you to Weekend Puppy Raising?
I was looking for a way to give back and currently having a dog of my own would be challenging with my work/travel schedule. Being a NEADS Weekend Puppy Raiser has given me the ability to give back and get that puppy time!
If you had your own talk show, who would your first 3 guests be?
Pope Francis, Barak Obama and Big Papi
If you had one extra hour of free time a day what would you do with it?
Puppy raise, of course!
Would you rather be able to speak all foreign languages or talk to animals?
Since I already talk to animals, I would have to say foreign languages, as it would be very helpful in my work.
If you could visit one place in the world where would it be and why?
I have been very lucky to have traveled quite a bit but my dream destination would have to be Bora Bora – but with a lot of sunscreen and umbrellas.
Are you a listener or a talker?
I think I am a combination of both – over the years I have realized listening more leads to learning more.
Tell us your favorite part about being a Weekend Puppy Raiser or your favorite memory with one of the NEADS pups.
Recently I and several other Weekend Puppy Raisers from JJ Moran and their pups had the opportunity to visit the East Providence Fraternal Order of Police. The EPFOP have a weekly meat raffle and use some of the money collected to support charities including NEADS. They are my current pup Raffle’s sponsors! During that visit, they presented NEADS with an additional donation to support clients working toward their fundraising goals. It was a wonderful day and heartwarming to see peoples generosity. Plus, Raffle was the star of the day – he loved being in the spotlight!
