Veterans Day 2021

by Katie Hanna

It was the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I. Known in many countries as Armistice Day, November 11 marks the signing of the armistice between the Allies of World War I and Germany.

Officially changed in the US to Veterans Day by President Eisenhower in 1954, November 11 is now a day to celebrate the many veterans who have served our great nation throughout the years. It is a day to honor our veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve this great nation through ceremonies, parades, or even a simple thank you.

“The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example.”*

Our veterans carry on an incredible legacy of the many who came before. Similarly, many clients come to NEADS because of a personal or professional referral based on NEADS reputation. In many ways, living up to a legacy and a great name can be both a challenge and a blessing. NEADS dogs represent a “great example” – a long and rich history of well-trained dogs that serve people in the public eye. They demonstrate what “right” looks like in the Service Dog industry.

Our veterans are also held to a high standard of a great example when serving our country and deploying to places many Americans would not dare to go. Today, especially, we honor our veterans, veteran clients, and all veterans throughout the history of our country. NEADS salutes our veterans!
